JUST IN: Your Appointment Violates Our Law -Atiku’s Aide Faults President Tinubu’s New Decision

Daniel Bwala, one of the spokespeople for Atiku Abubakar, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has asserted that the appointment of Ola Olukayode as the new chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) by President Bola Tinubu is in violation of the law.

In a statement posted on his social media, argued that the appointment of Olukayode contradicts Section 2 of the EFCC Act, which stipulates certain qualifications for the position of EFCC Chairman.

According to the EFCC Act, the appointee should meet the following criteria:

*Must be a serving or retired member of a security or law enforcement agency.

*Must possess a minimum of 15 years of relevant law enforcement experience.

*Must not hold a rank below that of an assistant commissioner of police.

Hence, Bwala contended that Olukayode, a private legal practitioner and a pastor (RCCG), does not fulfill these requirements.

He argued that Olukayode lacks a background in any security or law enforcement agency, falls short of the requisite 15 years of law enforcement experience, and does not hold the required rank within the law enforcement sector.

PDP supporter criticizes Olukayode’s short six-year experience, deeming it insufficient for EFCC Chairman role.
