According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, October 30, 2023, the recently suspended Rivers State House of Assembly member from Ahoada, Hon. Edison Ehie, has emerged new Speaker of the House amid the Wike and Fubara crisis.

Hon. Edison’s emergence was confirmed by Governor Fubara via a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Congratulations Mr. Speaker”, Fubara tweeted.
This comes after the failed attempt to impeach the incumbent Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.
Recall that the impeachment plan was rumoured to have been orchestrated by former Governor Nyesom Wike over his recent political crisis with Fubara.
Meanwhile, Daily Post also reports that the Chief Justice of Rivers State, Simeon Amadi, has been suspended by the Sim Fubara faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly. It’s believed he’s an ally of Wike.
