According to reports trickling down the media, Port Harcourt protesters have abandoned the nationwide hunger protest on the 9th day.
Nigeria Info 92.3 PH reports that the protesters didn’t meet at their usual meeting point today, August 9, 2024. Their usual meeting point in front of the Federal Secretariat complex in Port Harcourt.
GNtv News was informed that there is strong presence of armed police at the Federal Secretariat, and that the group which dispersed protesters in the area on Wednesday, Voice of Concerned Citizens, were seen patrolling in the area.
The organizers of the demonstration have promised to hold a media chat to explain the reason they abandoned the protest today.
Recall that the nationwide hunger protest was supposed to end on August 10, 2024.
