Breaking: PDP Moves To Remove Nyesom Wike’s Closest Ally

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to remove Iliya Umar Damagum from his position as acting national chairman. This decision was reached after a meeting between PDP governors and the National Working Committee (NWC).

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, confirmed the move. Damagum, Nyesom Wike’s ‘closest’ ally, was appointed after Iyorchia Ayu’s removal in June 2023. Governor Mohammed described Damagum’s continued leadership as a “constitutional aberration.”

He emphasized that the position should revert to the North Central region. This shift aligns with PDP’s rule that leadership roles remain within their originating region. Mohammed mentioned that the North Central deserves to complete Ayu’s unfinished term. He further noted that the North East had previously benefit from a similar arrangement.

The party is committed to resolving this issue to ensure stability. Governor Mohammed reiterated their dedication to upholding party constitutional principles.
