Egi’s 9 Billion: They Said I’m a Thief and That I’ve Eaten the Money – Oris Onyiri Cries Out

While the news of a certain 9 billion naira belonging to Egi people continues to trend, Chief Oris Onyiri has cried out saying some people labelled him a thief and that he has eaten the money.

He said he is not a thief, as he was among those who fought for the money to be released by Total Energies.

He said this while addressing Egi people during a meeting of the Egi Simplified Movement.

The Simplified Movement is a group of people supporting the administration of Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu.

The Words of Chief Oris Onyiri

“We did not call this meeting to share the money belonging to Egi people. I want to make it clear so you don’t misinform people.

“Some people have already called me bad names. They said I’m a thief and that I’ve eaten the money. They said I stole Egi’s money.

“But what I know is that a leader who listens to what everyone says will not lead well, and I’ve forgiven those who called me bad names.

“Thank God it’s now clear that I didn’t eat the money. I fought for that money. Money is just paper, but Total Energies ddidn’t want to pay it.

“However, our brother who works in in Total Energies called me and told me about it, and the need to pursue it. So, we reasoned together.

“We had to call meetings to look for people that won’t be manipulated or bought over. Mr Hopeson Dike and Mr Udobueze Arugu were selected.

“I had to say this so you won’t have doubts and I want you to believe your leaders. I’m not a thief. Now that we have gotten the money, it belongs to Egi people and not one person”, he said (Translated from Ogba Language).
