Fresh Evidence From Chicago State University Is Valid -Atiku Abubakar Replies Tinubu, APC, INEC

Atiku Abubakar, the PDP candidate in the 2023 presidential election, wants the Supreme Court to consider new evidence as it hears appeals to remove President Bola Tinubu.

Atiku countered objections by Tinubu, INEC, and APC regarding the admissibility of documents from Chicago State University. He did this in a legal reply, asserting his stance on the matter.

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President, is challenging the presidential election outcome on February 25.

He argues that documents he seeks to present in court would support his claim that Tinubu was ineligible to run and involved in certificate forgery. These documents are Tinubu’s academic records from CSU, handed over on October 2, 2023, per a US court order.

Despite Tinubu’s objections, the documents were released. Atiku Abubakar wishes to present them to the Supreme Court, but Tinubu, INEC. But the APC objected, claiming that the court couldn’t admit the evidence at this stage. They argued that the 180-day limit for hearing election petitions had expired, and the court lacked jurisdiction.

Atiku’s legal team, led by Chief Chris Uche, SAN, argued against objections. They claimed there’s no constitutional 180-day limit on lower courts to hear presidential election petitions, which would restrict the Supreme Court’s authority.
