JUST IN: NLC gives FG till midnight to release detained president, Ajaero

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has condemned the arrest of its President, Joe Ajaero, by the Nigerian government. Ajaero was detained at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport while heading to a Trade Union Congress meeting in the UK.

In a statement by Deputy President Adeyanju Adewale, the NLC described the arrest as illegal and an affront to workers’ rights. The NLC demanded Ajaero’s immediate release by midnight and called for the reversal of the recent fuel price hike. The congress warned it will not tolerate further violations of workers’ rights.

The commique read, “The NLC demands the immediate and unconditional release of Comrade Joe Ajaero before 12 midnight today. The council unequivocally condemns the brazen and illegal detention of Comrade Joe Ajaero by the Nigerian state without any legal warrant or justification.” Details later…
