According to a report by Nigeria Info PH, residents of Obagi in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State are sounding the alarm regarding an ongoing gas leakage in a flow line.
The gas leakage has persisted for over a month without any corrective action. Worried about potential harm to the community, the locals are urgently appealing to the owners of the facility for intervention.
Benson Sunday, an elder in the community, expressed deep concern about the fear gripping many residents due to the prolonged gas leak. “Obagi people are living in fear over gas leakage and nothing has been done about it”, he said.
Meanwhile, Ngozi Paul, the chairman of the Community Development Committee of Obagi, reported that despite their efforts to contact the facility owners, no measures have been taken to halt the leakage.
The situation remains a significant threat to the well-being and safety of the community, and immediate action is imperative to mitigate the potential consequences.
