The Senator of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ireti Kingibe, has pledged to work with the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, if he tenders apology to her.
She said this while speaking on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
GNtv News recalls that Wike had threatened to unseat her in 2027.
Wike’s threat came after she reacted angrily when he asked about her accomplishments for her constituents. She had said that she was way older than Wike.
Kingibe and Nyesom Wike have not had a smooth relationship since they assumed office in 2023.
According to Kingibe, Wike should not have talked to her in the manner he did.
She stressed that the Minister does not understand how the FCT operates, that was why he made such comments.
“He doesn’t obviously understand the concept of the FCT. If he did, it is nothing personal.
“He says ‘I don’t want to be her friend.’ How does governance translate into friendship?
“I’m actually willing to do everything to work with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory as long as he apologizes first for saying I should go and hang on a transformer.
“Once he does that, it is all over. We can start afresh but until then, everybody stays in his lane.
“With all due respect, I am so much older than him. Even courtesy demands he should not speak to me like that”, she said.
