Tinubu’s Speech on the Protest is a “Collective Insult to our Intelligence” – AAC

The Lagos State chapter of the African Action Congress (AAC) has labelled what president Tinubu said on the ongoing protest against bad governance as a collective insult to the intelligence of Nigerians.

This was revealed in a statement released on Sunday, August 4, 2024, by the Public Relations Officer of the AAC in Lagos, Osatohamhen Ebhohon.

According to the statement, Tinubu did not address the 15 requests of the protesters. Their requests focused on making the basic necessities of life accessible and affordable for all Nigerians.

Tinubu’s address reportedly focused more on International Monetary Fund (IMF) policies and reforms, which he explained as necessary.

“Tinubu’s refusal to revisit and reverse these policies shows that he doesn’t have the interest of Nigerians at heart.

“Economic policies are meant to improve the life of the working people, not worsen it. Tinubu’s speech on the protest is a collective insult to our intelligence”, the statement read in part.

Additionally, the AAC warned that employing security agencies to harass, kill or intimidate the protesters will make the situation worse.
